Our philosophy

At Gori Grows we allow our children to gain and refine a variety of abilities through everyday practices like cutting the fruits to share each day with child friendly utensils, participating in washing and drying their plates in a small scale sink set up.

Space

Our space is clearly defined with clear and easy access to the material so during periods of free play they can engage with tasks, driven by their own self motivation, creativity and also facilitating concentration.

Self motivation

We believe it is self motivation and concentration which are the real masters of effective learning so we are continuously observing and developing responsive measures to best support and amplify these abilities

Limits

We also place a lot of importance on both self care and care of our space. From being able to express limits to one another, brushing teeth after lunch, to the appropriate use of our materials. We encourage daily mindfulness around all these activities.

Ratio

In order to best support this awareness we ensure a maximum ratio of 1 adult to 5 children. This low ratio is of vital importance to ensure that each child’s needs are able to be expressed and attended to and also ensures a sometimes simply subtle supportive presence allowing the children themselves to more assuredly work to resolve conflicts, or design spontaneous proposals,

Learn english

Our young Goris learn english through songs, daily routines, and we also use Makaton; a sign language designed in the UK which follows the same gramatical structure of spoken english with clear and intuitive movements. This links both the visual and linguistic aspects of our brains making language acquisition much more effective and the learning process more inclusive.
